Garden Design
Initial Meeting
I will visit you and your garden to assess the site and talk through your requirements and budget.
Estimate
Based on the information supplied at that meeting I will then provide an estimate of the design proposal and associated fees.
Client Brief
If you decide you would like to proceed then we will have a more in depth meeting, and discuss your ideas and aspirations for your garden in detail. I will then prepare a Brief for you to sign off before work commences.
Site Survey and Analysis
For many gardens I will arrange to visit your property and conduct a site survey and analysis myself to measure boundaries and levels, note the location of any existing trees and structures that are to be retained and take detailed photographs to give me all the information I require to start designing.
For larger or more complicated plots I may engage the services of a professional landscape surveyor.
Outline Design
I will work towards your target budget throughout the design process and discuss with you any decisions that may influence it- such as choice of materials .
I like to work collaboratively with clients to ensure I am keeping your wishes at the forefront throughout. Part way through the design process I like to have an interim meeting to discuss sketches of initial layout ideas . I also present a mood board of images that are a representation of what your garden will look like. I find it's a good way to keep clients involved in the design process and a good point to discuss how the design is progressing- it can be easier to visualise when you have something to look at and can see your vision starting to take shape.
Presentation Plan
Once the layout has been agreed I will fine tune the design details and work on the final presentation plan for the hard landscaping.
I can undertake all sourcing of materials to go in the garden, and also furniture if required. All information including sourced materials, suppliers, quantities and sizes will be included in this plan.
Construction Drawings
Any more complex and/ or bespoke elements of the design can be drawn up separately for the contractor to follow in detail.
Planting Design
Once the Garden Design has been completed I can work on the Planting Design tailored to the aspect and soil type of your garden, working with you to create a garden full of plants that you love.
I will produce a Planting Plan that will illustrate all plants specified by location, name, size and number plus a mood board of plant selections and a maintenance schedule if required.
Tender
I can tender the design to Landscapers on your behalf or you can choose to take the designs at this point and start the tendering process yourself. Depending on the nature of the garden and the design this could be one landscape company that encompasses all the work, or a few individual contractors.
Build
The exciting bit- your garden is about to come to life!
Hard Landscaping
Once a Landscaper has been appointed and the build is going ahead I can be available for site visits and project monitoring if required.
Plants
I can undertake all sourcing of plants as required. I work with trusted nurseries that supply the highest quality plants at good prices. I visit the nurseries personally and pick the best plants for your garden.
Once the contractor’s work has finished I will arrange delivery and plant up the plants as per the planting plan.
