Wild Garden
Leytonstone | 2021 | Full Redesign
The original garden was a long, narrow space dominated by a straight central path that emphasised its length.
To transform this layout, the focal point became a new wildlife pond, strategically placed at the garden's centre. The soil from the pond excavation was used to create a free-draining mound towards the rear, subtly screening a new seating area and adding a natural rise to the landscape.
A winding gravel path now curves around the pond and mound, introducing a more organic, meandering flow to the garden. Trees were planted to add height and visual interest, while mini wildflower meadows encourage biodiversity.
A variety of shrubs were chosen to ensure a three-tiered canopy, extending the bloom season year-round.
To enhance the habitat for wildlife, a log pile and rock pile were added near the pond, enriching this tranquil, natural retreat.
